Facebook’s Purge of ‘Fake’ Likes Affects Brand Pages

Last week, Facebook carried what it announced it would do last month and delete ‘fake’ Facebook accounts – which has lead to the fan count of brand pages dropping across the board. Celebrity pages such as Shakira, Rihanna and Justin Bieber have lost between 35,000 and 50,000 fans in the purge, while Lady Gaga’s Facebook page has lost 65,000 fans. However, these large numbers of deleted fans, it only accounts for a lost of less than 0.15% of the pages’ total number of fans.
