Next Big Thing in Social Media? Tout

Tout.com is a relatively new social media platform that was launched in 2010, that allows users to shoot 15-second video status updates via smartphones and webcams. These videos are uploaded to Tout.com or can be shared to other social media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. Each video has a reply feature, which means people can engage in whole conversations through Tout. The site made a big breakthrough last year when basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal announced his retirement through Tout. Over the past few days there has been another breakthrough, as Tout have signed a deal with WWE with the site being aggressively marketed by personalities such as Dwayne Johnson, John Cena and CM Punk. The site had a usership of 12 million followers at the start of the year; expect to see that figure treble by the end of 2012.
