Social Media at the Olympics Set to Break Records

Although Social Media was alive and well at the last Olympics in Beijing in 2008, the concept has exploded especially since. International incidents such as Michael Jackson’s death and Superbowl matches have broken tweet-per-second records on Twitter, and have been broken again since. However, there has not been a global event like the Olympics since the Twitterverse came into such prominence, and with every event being watched around the world as opposed to one specific country, there is every chance a new world record will will lead to a new Twitter record.
